All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal every day. If you do not want your child to have a free school meal, they can bring their own packed lunch.

Children in Years 3 to 6 may bring in their own packed lunch or have a cooked meal at lunchtime. Cooked meals cost £2.40 per day. The children can have a cooked meal every day or have a mixture of packed lunches or hot meals.

Payments and choices for school dinners should be made via ParentPay and must be booked before 11:59pm on the Thursday of the week commencing.  Dinners can be booked up to half term in advance.

Each day, children have a choice of two main dishes or a jacket potato.

Free school meals are available for some children. Your child may be entitled to free school meals if you get any of the following:

  • Income Support

  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Support under Part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999

Very Important Free School Meal Funding for Schools

It is very important that you apply for free school meals even if your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 and even if you want to send your child to school with a packed lunch. Part of the funding that school receives is based on the number of children entitled to free school meals. Therefore the more children we know about, the more money we receive to spend on our children.  If you would like any support with the application process, please ask in the school office.

If your child brings a packed lunch, you need to ensure that they are balanced and healthy. Crisps, chocolate, cake etc. can be put in as an occasional treat. Children will have access to water with their packed lunch but may bring in their own drink if they would like to. Please do not send fizzy drinks or glass containers into school.
