Sports Premium Impact Statement 2024–25

At Heworth CE Primary School, the PE and Sport Premium has been used purposefully to ensure that every child flourishes academically, spiritually, and culturally. In 2024–25 our grant of £17,210 was fully invested across staff development, enrichment opportunities, and inclusive provision.

Academic Flourishing
  • Funding supported staff CPD and external coaching, raising teacher confidence and competence, ensuring high-quality PE lessons that have positively impacted pupil attainment.
  • Investment in equipment and resources has broadened the curriculum and enabled pupils to access a wide range of physical activities, contributing to higher levels of engagement and achievement in PE.
  • Year 6 pupils’ swimming attainment has strengthened, with 74% achieving the national standard in swimming and water safety, reflecting the impact of sustained provision.
Spiritual Flourishing
  • Our programme promotes values of perseverance, resilience, and respect, allowing children to experience both success and challenge through sport.
  • Competitive opportunities and inter-school events have encouraged children to show humility in victory and grace in defeat, linking sporting endeavour to Christian values of community and compassion.
  • Outdoor, active opportunities have provided space for reflection, well-being, and joy in creation—aligning physical development with spiritual growth.
Cultural Flourishing
  • The Premium has enabled broader access to sports and extra-curricular clubs, including free or subsidised places for disadvantaged pupils. This has ensured equity of opportunity and strengthened community participation.
  • Specialist activities have been provided to increase girls’ participation in sport and widen representation across teams and clubs.
  • Inclusive approaches, supported by specialist equipment and CPD, have ensured that children with SEND and medical needs flourish alongside their peers.
  • Our pupils have enjoyed a diverse sporting offer, from inter-school competitions to peer-led activities, nurturing cultural confidence and pride in representing the school.
  • Whole-School Impact

The Sports Premium has had a positive impact across every key measure: raising the profile of PE and sport, increasing physical activity levels, improving staff skills, boosting pupil attainment, and strengthening engagement in extra-curricular activities. These improvements have been embedded into school culture, ensuring sustainability for future cohorts.
