What does Collective Worship look like at Heworth CE Primary?
At Heworth CE Primary School, we gather daily for Collective Worship in a variety of forms including Whole School, Phase and Class Worship.
During these inclusive, invitational and inspiring daily acts, we come together to engage in, and to listen to, songs, prayers, and delve deeper into our Christian vision, values and the teachings of the Bible. We explore how these principles connect to our lives as a whole school community and how they help us to grow as an individual and a community.
Collective Worship is led by a number of individuals such as our staff members children and external visitors such as Open the Book (comprised of volunteers from churches local To Heworth), YOYO (York Youth Trust), and of course of local Vicar, Mike, and his wife, Emma.
We also have a dedicated Collective Worship Team, comprised of Year 6 pupils, who play a vital role in enriching our Collective Worship experiences. These pupils are voted for by their peers during our whole school election week. They play a huge part in gathering us all as a school and sending us away from Worship reflecting on what has been spoken about.
To ensure a consistent and enriching experience, we use a variety of sources to support with planning and delivering Collective Worship effectively. This includes resources from “Roots and Fruits”, The Diocese of York, The Church of England and specific websites focused on delivering Collective Worship.
