Heworth CE Primary School

Heworth CE Primary School was founded over 150 years ago as a Church school serving the local parish community.

Our school sits on a wealth of history, having been founded in 1873, and will be forever indebted to the generosity of Lady Wheler (of Heworth Hall) for donating money to build our local Parish Church, Holy Trinity, and the school. Her intention was to ensure that the children of the community had the education that they deserved and could flourish no matter what their circumstance. The opening of the school was recorded in The York Herald on March 1st 1873.
